to you.
At APC we believe plastering should be your first choice as plastering is

to understand other trades and to make these easier and faster to learn.
APC has the facilities and the ability to teach you all of the finishing
trades and students wishing to take one or more courses can take advantage of
our experience and knowledge. Many students are now multi-tasking and adding
more skills for life to their C.V. opening up more opportunities for their
future.
APC specialise in the teaching of skills of plastering and associated
finishing trades. Trainees completing our courses will be well rewarded and

of the construction industry.
Paperwork is minimal as we believe the best way to learn a practical skill
is with hands on experience and plenty of practice. The courses are
available as individual modules or can be linked together or tailor made to
meet your particular needs.
APC courses are structured for students wishing to complete their NVQ
qualification (students not wishing to complete a qualification but require plastering
and associated skills will also benefit from our courses). All students
completing each course will be presented with a folder containing course
notes, fact sheets, instructor reports and photographic evidence to be used
towards a qualification if required.
Plastering; What is Plaster?
Plastering is the process of covering the surfaces of a building or part with pure lime or mortar. Usually, this mortar consists of mixtures of lime or Gypson and sand.
Plaster; Why we Plaster
To the improvement and preservation of structures if a wooden or brick structure is left uncovered, exposed to weather, it suffers from the effects of sunrays, rain, wind and frost.
Plaster; ancient and asiatic
The art of plastering is very ancient, so ancient that it is lost in the mist of time. It is believed it took it’s origin from the wattle-and-daub method common to primitive people.
Plastering Egyptian
The property of burnt and stacked lime or gypsum was known in Egypt at least 3,000 years before our era.
Plastering Roman
Unlike the Egyptians, the Romans used Lime not gypsum stucco being their preferred method.

Plastering Setting Coat
The Setting Coat makes the finishing coat in three-coat work. The term ‘Setting’ applies where setting stuff is used for the finishing coat.
Plaster; Render and Finish

Fibrous Plaster
It is always difficult to state who was the originator of any particular process. It was a French Modeler, Leonard Alexander Desachy, who first patented the process of Fibrous Plaster work in 1855. However, Fibrous was known to the ancient Egyptians who wrapped their mummies in canvas steeped in burnt gypsum.
Plastering by Portland Cement Stucco
By Portland Cement Stucco is meant something different from (and superior to) ordinary mixture of cement and sand, will dry hard and give good protection.
Plaster Modeling
Coring or backing out for Modeling in plaster when preparing the background for modeling in plaster a full-size detail drawing, or half section full size, is required.

Ancient method of surface decoration having some affinity to English pargetting, this type is more popular on the Continent.
